The Southwest High School Alumni Association Scholarship is a scholarship that is awarded to the student that holds a 3.0 or higher GPA and exemplifies self-efficacy, control, patriot pride and sense of community.

Scholarship Descriptions
In order for an applicant to apply for the “Southwest High School Alumni Association Scholarship,” he/she must meet the following criteria:

Who can apply

Must have applied to an accredited four year college or university at the time of submitting the application.

Must have a GPA of at least a 3.0 or above.

Must be a student at Southwest High School.

Must submit an official high school transcript.

Must be a high school senior.

Must submit a letter of recommendation written by an administrator or teacher from the applicant’s high school.

Must submit a two full page word essay(Typed, Double Spaced and 12 inch Time New Roman font.). The required topic: “What are your future aspirations, and how will they impact your school or community?”

If the applicant receives the scholarship, "proof of registration" must be submitted to the Alumni Association prior to the disbursenment of funds.

How to apply
ALL REQUIRED INFORMATION SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION VIA THE SENIOR COUNSELOR, DR. DON ANDREWS, BY APRIL, (DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED) AND THE RECIPIENT(S) WILL BE ANNOUNCED DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL AT THE “SENIOR NIGHT” AWARDS PROGRAM.
ALL QUESTIONS IN REFERENCE TO THE SCHOLARSHIP SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO MS. KAREN EVANS-DANIEL, (ROOM 1003).
